Minimum Requirements

  • Chartered/Near Chartered Engineer;

  • Structural engineering (concrete and steel) experience on major assignments for a range of Clients in various construction market sectors;

  • English and French speaking;

  • A willingness to travel is essential

Duties & Responsibilites

Office-based:

  • Utilise TEKLA Structures in the modelling of reinforced-concrete and steel plate structures;

  • Produce 3D models, 2D engineering drawings and bar bending schedules;

  • De-clash reinforcement and anchor plates on TEKLA 3D models;

  • Work closely with Design Engineers to help finalise details and designs. In some cases, undertake concrete local calculations using ETCC (EPR Technical Code for Civil Works);

  • Work as part of a team and communicate work status to the team on a regular basis. Inform the Project Manager of risks to update the project register;

  • Apply nuclear building construction techniques in the production of models and drawings

Site-based:

  • Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations;

  • Ensure that all materials used and work performed are in accordance with the specifications/drawings;

  • Liaise with other consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project;

  • Oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site related to the scope of works;

  • Prepare quality reports as required;

  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.

General:

  • Assist in the management of the design process that may include other related design disciplines/teams

  • Assist with coordinating design as part of an internal team and liaising with external associated professionals and clients;

  • Implement and adhere to Company procedures and best practice in the management, delivery and administration of Services;

  • Uphold the Company Health & Safety and Environment Policies across all activities

  • Undertake other reasonable duties as requested

  • Regular travel between UK and France

Key Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified Civil/Structural Engineer; post graduate qualifications would be an advantage;

  • Chartered (or near Chartered) in a relevant discipline (ICE, IStructE);

  • Working knowledge of structural processes and design, with an emphasis on data interpretation, design & analysis, construction and advanced numerical modelling;

  • Structural design experience including foundations, retaining structures, buildings or bridges etc.

  • Working knowledge of Eurocodes and other national and international industry standards, contracts, methodologies and procedures;

  • Experience of computer analysis and design in common materials i.e. steel and concrete;

  • Awareness of health and safety, including possession of Current CSCS Card;

IT Skills

  • Knowledge and experience in structural analysis/finite element software such as:

    - LUSAS - Masterframe - RM Bridge - SAM (Autodesk Structural Bridge Design) - WALLAP / PLAXIS (2D/3D) - TEKLA (2D/3D)

  • Excellent Microsoft Office abilities (particularly Excel)

  • Programming / scripting knowledge
